No breakdowns? Not music!
In this tutorial, Joel Wanasek shows how a little automation adds dynamics, energy and punch to one of the key parts of many metal mixes: the breakdown!
He uses Cubase’s volume and EQ automation features to make the first hit of each phrase within the breakdown hit a little harder, but the same idea will work in any DAW (just look up “automation” in the help files).
